Microdosing is like tuning an instrument. It is subtle, sensitive and requires attention. But how do you know which rhythm suits your unique body and mind? In this guide, I will take you through the best-known microdosing protocols: the Fadiman protocol, the Fresh Mushrooms schedule, the Every-Days protocol and your intuitive approach. Because microdosing is not a one-size-fits-all. It is a personal exploration.
Why is there more than one protocol?
Microdosing with magic truffles does not work like a pill for a headache. Truffles are living nature. Their action arises from the interplay of psilocybin, psilocin and other substances, which together react to your unique biochemistry, mood and rhythm of life. This is why there are different schedules - each with its own philosophy.

The trick is to listen to what your system needs. And that starts with understanding the choices you have.
What does the Fadiman protocol entail?
James Fadiman, a pioneer in modern microdosing research, established a simple and widely used schedule: a three-day cycle.

Schedule:
- Day 1: Dosage day
- Day 2: Transition day (slight aftereffects)
- Day 3: Normal/rest day
- Repeat from day 4
After a period of 4 to 8 weeks of microdosing, 2 to 4 weeks of rest is recommended for reset and integration.
Advantages:
- Structure and simplicity
- Good observation possibilities
- Ideal for beginners
What is the Fresh Mushrooms protocol?
Our own protocol at Microdosing XP is a slightly more active five-day cycle. It is designed for people who want to integrate microdosing into their daily lives, with plenty of resting moments built in.

Schedule:
- Day 1: Dosage day
- Day 2: Dosage day
- Day 3: Transition day
- Day 4: Normal/rest day
- Day 5: Dosage day
- Etc.
Again, after 4 to 8 weeks of microdosing, take a 2 to 4-week break.
Advantages:
- More active protocol
- Fits well into a working week
- Even distribution of effects
What is the Every-Days microdosing protocol?
This schedule is meant for people who want to microdose every other day. It provides a stable rhythm where you get small stimuli regularly, without accumulation.

Schedule:
- Day 1: Dosage day
- Day 2: Transition day
- Day 3: Dosage day
- Day 4: Transition day
- Etc.
As with the other protocols, after 4 to 8 weeks you take a break of 2 to 4 weeks.
Advantages:
- Rhythmic and consistent
- Less chance of habituation
- Good for people with busy schedules
How does the Intuitive Protocol work?
With this schedule, you decide when to dose. The only set rule: at least one rest day between microdoses. This protocol is suitable for people who are experienced and can tune into their bodies well.

Schedule:
- Free to fill in, with at least one rest day between doses
Advantages:
- Complete freedom
- Alignment with rhythm of life, cycle or seasons
- Promotes body awareness
Recommendation: again, dose for 4 to 8 weeks and then rest for 2 to 4 weeks.
How to choose the right schedule?
Start by observing yourself:
- How do you react to 0.5 grams of fresh truffles?
- What happens on rest days?
- When do you feel balance, focus or calm?
Then choose a protocol that fits your rhythm of life. Start small, keep a microdosing diary and dare to make adjustments. No body is static. What works today may be different in three months.
Note: Do you feel overstimulated, tired or flat? Then take a longer break. Microdosing works with you, not against you.
