Imagine: you have tried years of therapy. Talks, pills, diagnoses, more talks. But the feeling of emptiness, anxiety or re-experiencing keeps walking with you like a shadow. For thousands of people, this is not a distant reality, but daily reality. The documentary Psychedelic Pioneering by BNNVARA sheds new light on this silent pandemic of mental suffering.
And the light comes from the earth. Literally.
The search for true healing
In the documentary, we follow Fimme and Alex, two people who struggled for years with PTSD, addiction and trauma. Both got stuck in the mainstream. What they were left with was hope. Hope for something different, something deeper. Their path led to psychedelic therapy. No quick fix, no magical remedy, but an intensive inner journey with guidance, in a safe setting.
The images are raw, honest and hopeful. They show not only the pain, but also the process of transformation. Not by suppressing symptoms, but by opening doors that were closed for years.
The healing power of truffles
What many people do not yet know: psilocybin is not only in magic mushrooms, but also in magic truffles. Truffles are a natural product, not an isolated substance. And therein lies their strength. Because it's not just about psilocybin, but about the entourage effect: the interplay of all the substances in the truffle that together make a unique, healing experience possible.
Whereas traditional therapy often takes years, a guided psychedelic session can touch deeper layers of consciousness within hours. This is not to say it is "easy". On the contrary. But it is real. Authentic. Nature wise.
At Microdosing XP, we believe in this power of nature. Not as a substitute for therapy, but as enrichment. As a supplement. As an opportunity to get back to yourself. Truffles are not a panacea, but they open doors to wondrous possibilities.
The rise of psychedelic therapy
The documentary shows what has been visible worldwide for some time: a paradigm shift is coming. Universities like Johns Hopkins, Imperial College London and the UMC Utrecht are doing plenty of research on psychedelics for depression, addiction and trauma. And the results are promising.
More and more countries are also taking political steps. Germany, for instance, recently legalised psilocybin therapy for medical use in licensed clinics. A historic step in Europe, showing that the taboo is slowly giving way to scientific as well as social recognition. Read more about this development in our article on legalisation in Germany.
But in the Netherlands, policy lags behind. Psychedelic therapy is not yet officially recognised. Yet more and more therapists, psychologists and pioneers are taking steps. Because they see the results. Because they listen to the stories of people who finally experience breathing space.
At Microdosing XP, we have been working for years with people who choose microdosing with magic truffles as part of their recovery process. Sometimes alongside therapy, sometimes as the starting point of a new phase. What we see? More peace. More direction. More connection.
Time for openness, research and cooperation
What makes this documentary so powerful is that it puts people at the centre. Not the protocol, not the system, but the story. The feeling. The search for healing.
And that is exactly what we need. A new approach to mental health, where nature and science come together. In which we don't numb trauma, but meet it. In which truffles are not a forbidden fruit, but a source of reconnection.
So let's open the conversation. Not just about psychedelic therapy, but about the broader question: what is true healing? And what if that healing has been growing under our feet for centuries?
